ALONG THE OHIO - NOVEMBER, by MARY PRUDENCE MORTON First Line: Let there be wind over this place forever Last Line: The last horseman, reining in his steed. Subject(s): Autumn; Ohio River; Seasons; Fall | ||||||||
Let there be wind over this place forever, And dull fog, choking the tired hill's breath. No bird song, no leaf rustle, only the moan Of the old year, creaking down to death. Let there be mist on the complaining river, Worn chasms where the small eddies feed. And yonder, waiting, grim visaged, stark, alone, The Last Horseman, reining in his steed. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...OUR AUTUMN by ELIZABETH AKERS ALLEN AN AUTUMN JOY by GEORGE ARNOLD A LEAF FALLS by MARION LOUISE BLISS THE FARMER'S BOY: AUTUMN by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD A LETTER IN OCTOBER by TED KOOSER AUTUMN EVENING by DAVID LEHMAN EVERYTHING THAT ACTS IS ACTUAL by DENISE LEVERTOV DAY IN OCTOBER by MARY PRUDENCE MORTON |
