A morning sunrise on a western plain!
Surpassing painters' skill or sculptor's art,
Awakening forgotten hope for gain
And bringing to each man another start.
Ascending slowly from a sea of light,
It offers to the world a vital day
And drives away the last imprint of night
Revealing a new chance to quell dismay.
It sends a dart of light in every shade.
Terrors of night that stalk throughout the land—
How cowardly they slink away, afraid
To meet the forces of the Sun God's band.
Despondencies of early morning flee
The world now teems with opportunity.
