TEMPLE BELLS, by MABEL BLACK MYERS First Line: My window frames an artist's dream Last Line: I hear the temple bells! Subject(s): Bells; Temples; Winter; Mosques | ||||||||
My window frames an artist's dream, Aglow with sunshine flush; Its grandeur breathes the flowing stroke Of Nature's throbbing brush. A North-wind caught the snowflake stars In passionate embrace; Then, tossing, flinging them aloft, Achieved a world of grace. Steep, rugged mountain peaks project Above my lilac hedge; And purple-orchid shadows hide By iridescent hedge. Cathedral spires are diamond wrought, The chancels etched brocades; Bejewelled minarets stand high A-top the carved facades. Vast Oriental temples touch Pagodas of the East; And white-robed patriarchs partake Of ancient sacred feast. My window looks upon a scene Where Northern Winter dwells; The sun is sinking in the West -- I hear the Temple bells! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE BAYADERE by FRANCIS SALTUS SALTUS AT DENDERA by AMELIA JOSEPHINE BURR RAMESES WORSHIPS RAMESES AT ABU SIMBEL by AMELIA JOSEPHINE BURR GLIMPSES OF ITALY: 5.
