TEMPLE BELLS, by
First Line: My window frames an artist's dream
Last Line: I hear the temple bells!
Subject(s): Bells; Temples; Winter; Mosques

My window frames an artist's dream,
Aglow with sunshine flush;
Its grandeur breathes the flowing stroke
Of Nature's throbbing brush.

A North-wind caught the snowflake stars
In passionate embrace;
Then, tossing, flinging them aloft,
Achieved a world of grace.

Steep, rugged mountain peaks project
Above my lilac hedge;
And purple-orchid shadows hide
By iridescent hedge.

Cathedral spires are diamond wrought,
The chancels etched brocades;
Bejewelled minarets stand high
A-top the carved facades.

Vast Oriental temples touch
Pagodas of the East;
And white-robed patriarchs partake
Of ancient sacred feast.

My window looks upon a scene
Where Northern Winter dwells;
The sun is sinking in the West --
I hear the Temple bells!
