ON YOUR TWENTY-FIFTH BIRTHDAY, by ADRIAN F. NADER First Line: I think I knew, beloved Last Line: Content together.... Subject(s): Maturity | ||||||||
I think I knew, beloved, The day that you were born. Although I was not, yet I think there came to me Across the infinite reach Of star-studded heavens The sound of your first baby cry. And, in my before-life existence, I think I heard you, felt my need of you, Vowed to search you out When you and I had reached Our full maturity... This is the time, the place, beloved. You have waited a quarter of a century, I a few months less. We have no need of further waiting, You and I, no need of further search. We have each other -- soon for life. For life! For days and nights Of sweet, warm closeness. For months and years of hand-in-hand Companionship. For an eternity Of living side by side, Content together.... | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...GRATITUDE TO OLD TEACHERS by ROBERT BLY BROTHER AND SISTER by MARY ANN EVANS TO A WOMAN by KENNETH SLADE ALLING FIVE LITTLE WANDERINGS: 4.
