My little lad of other days sleeps there. He bore the brunt of battle, I must bear The agonizing loneliness of years. He played his part. Shall I give way to tears? He loved tall fragrant lilies, and they grew In our old-fashioned garden, bright with dew. I'm taking these; their beauty shields my loss; They'll guard his grave, and bloom about his cross. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE SURVIVOR AMONG GRAVES by RANDALL JARRELL SUBJECTED EARTH by ROBINSON JEFFERS THE GRAVE OF MRS.
