O vanishing goal!
Always the climbing on hands and knees;
Always the near and the need of the moment
Veiling the eye of the far-gazing mind;
Always the searching of the soul
For a firm ledge on which to abide in peace.
And always the gained ground
Crumbling to dust beneath the feet.
