SOLDANELLE, by E. DORCAS PALMER First Line: Far up in alpine mountains, year by year Last Line: And trust the god of the impossible. | |||
Far up in Alpine mountains, year by year Is wrought one of God's marvels. Growing there Amid snow-patches in the hollows where The strife of sun and frost makes crystal-clear Ice-edges, up through crusts of ice appear Small fragile blossoms, unscathed, perfect, fair; Up-grown and formed within a dome of air That grants the buds protective atmosphere. Their lilac petals, sparkling in the light And crystalline in texture, seem to bear Imprisoned traces of their upward flight. Their miracle of courage bids me dare Climb upward though my path be barrier full And trust the God of the Impossible. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE SOUL OF A PROMISE by E.
