Mama, dear, I'm going to leave you, Going to see my brother Roy; I'm not leaving you all alone For you still have my daddy boy. Days have been long and nights so dreary And for pain I could not sleep; Mama, when I'm gone to heaven Promise me that you'll not weep; Give away my books and playthings, I will never want them more; I'm going to that place called heaven Over on the other shore. Now I'm going to that place called heaven, Mama, mama, do not weep; Heaven is such a pretty place, Kiss me as I fall asleep. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...PARTHENOPHIL AND PARTHENOPHE: MADRIGAL 14 by BARNABE BARNES SONNETS IN SHADOWS: 1 by ARLO BATES IN PRAISE OF PAIN by HEATHER MCHUGH THE SYMPATIZERS by JOSEPHINE MILES LEEK STREET by LAURE-ANNE BOSSELAAR OCTOBER DAYS by RUBY ALORA PEAPLON |
