FARMER, by DORA MIELKE PERNOT First Line: A man who loves the soil Last Line: Builds for him a life of fullness earned. Subject(s): Farm Life; Agriculture; Farmers | ||||||||
A man who loves the soil, -- He feels within his heart A sympathy for earthly toil. He works the land and knows The tale of life and death As told by dust and snows. The quiet woodland trails Spell peace to him, and in that Silence strength avails. He sows the seed and waits The miracle of sun and rain. He reads the stars and wind, and rates The harvest, -- a crib of golden corn And bulging bins. If that should Fail, new hope is born, -- Fresh furrows turned. Undying faith in seed time Builds for him a life of fullness earned. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...KICKING THE LEAVES by DONALD HALL THE FARMER'S BOY: WINTER by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD THE FARMER'S BOY: SPRING by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD THE FARMER'S BOY: SUMMER by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD THE FARMER'S BOY: AUTUMN by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD GOAL by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON |
