YOUR LETTERS, by MARIE TELLO PHILLIPS First Line: Today I came across your letters, tied Last Line: But how I miss you, oh, my dear, my dear. Alternate Author Name(s): Yeagle, Charles J., Mrs. Subject(s): Memory | ||||||||
Today I came across your letters, tied Into a packet, with a bit of blue And faded ribbon. Years ago you died, But at the sight, my memories review The days when you and I were young. Your smile, Your look, my dear, and all the tender ways You had to tell your love, return the while I lived again the joy of long lost days. I put the letters back, and hide the key, My memories are laid away once more. I try to bring your face again to me, But bolt and lock have closed the open door. Blue skies with birds and buds of Spring are here, But how I miss you, oh, my dear, my dear. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MEMORY AS A HEARING AID by TONY HOAGLAND THE SAME QUESTION by JOHN HOLLANDER FORGET HOW TO REMEMBER HOW TO FORGET by JOHN HOLLANDER ON THAT SIDE by LAWRENCE JOSEPH MEMORY OF A PORCH by DONALD JUSTICE BEYOND THE HUNTING WOODS by DONALD JUSTICE |
