WHY I DO NOT CARE, by BETH PIRSCH First Line: My outside self is just as homely Last Line: To show my happiness. Subject(s): Indifference; Simplicity; Women | ||||||||
My outside self is just as homely As a child can be; I've clumsy feet, and freckled nose; No personality. My waistline's made to burst my dress And makes me look so fat! My hair is straight and does not match A stylish kind of hat. But oh, my inside self is just The dearest, little girl! A graceful, bright and pretty elf, With hair that's bound to curl; A fairy lovely as a star With sparkling silver dress Who spins and whirls on graceful toes To show my happiness. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ARISTOTLE TO PHYLLIS by JOHN HOLLANDER A WOMAN'S DELUSION by SUSAN HOWE JULIA TUTWILER STATE PRISON FOR WOMEN by ANDREW HUDGINS THE WOMEN ON CYTHAERON by ROBINSON JEFFERS TOMORROW by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD LADIES FOR DINNER, SAIPAN by KENNETH KOCH GOODBYE TO TOLERANCE by DENISE LEVERTOV |
