EPIGRAM ON DION OF SYRACUSE, by                     Poet's Biography
First Line: For priam's queen and daughters at their birth
Last Line: Thee, -- love for whom once took my wits away.

FOR Priam's queen and daughters at their birth
The fates weaved tears into the web of life;
But for thee, Dion, in thy hour of mirth,
When triumph crowned thy honourable strife,
Thy gathering hopes were poured upon the sand:
Thee, still thy countrymen revere, and lay
In the broad precincts of thy native land,
Thee, -- love for whom once took my wits away.
