A BALLAD OF BOYHOOD BAY, by HOWARD A. PLUMMER First Line: When silken ships put out to sea Last Line: By the blue of the boyhood bay. Subject(s): Yale University | ||||||||
WHEN silken ships put out to sea And the foam of the wave swings by, As the sunset isles of infancy Fade low on the fleece-bound sky; With sails a-gleam o'er the silver stream, They bend on the westward way To the golden glow of long ago, By the blue of the Boyhood Bay. There's a rainbow strand for Wonderland And a cove for the pirate boat; There's an emerald sward for the toy command To storm at the castle's moat; -- Oho! for the joy and the ways of the boy, For the day is eternal play In the golden glow of long ago, By the blue of the Boyhood Bay. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BALLADE OF MYSELF AND MONSIEUR RABELAIS by LEONARD BACON (1887-1954) THE BALLADE OF THE GOLDEN HORN by LEONARD BACON (1887-1954) DEATH AND THE MONK by ARTHUR E.
