THE MOVIE QUEEN, by MYRTES-MARIE PLUMMER First Line: Majestically she sweeps upon the scene Last Line: Reality gives way to glamorous lore. Subject(s): Actors & Actresses; Motion Pictures; Movies; Cinema | ||||||||
Majestically she sweeps upon the scene; In regal splendor, gowns reveal and cling; As fair as Easter lilies in the spring; And we behold a captivating queen. With smiles, a lilting voice and haughty mien, Intrigue us all from laborer to king. We note her charm in every little thing -- This lady of the tinsel on the screen. She is the mistress of my thought and whim. Cocoon of care I leave outside the door, And spread my wings up to the portal's brim; Exciting lands and loves, I then explore. Alas! The lights -- but for the interim, Reality gives way to glamorous lore. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE LOST WORLD by RANDALL JARRELL THE MOVIE PICTURE COWBOY by EARL ALONZO BRININSTOOL THE HEREAFTER by AUGUST KLEINZAHLER JOHN WAYNE'S PERFUMES by WAYNE KOESTENBAUM A SERENE HEART AT THE MOVIES by WILLIAM MATTHEWS MOVIE STAR IN THE PROJECTION ROOM by EVE MERRIAM HOW THEY GO ON by JAMES GALVIN |
