YOU WILL NOT MIND, by GRACE HARNER POFFENBERGER Last Line: You will not mind, for dear, you will not know. Subject(s): Worship | ||||||||
You will not mind if, deep within my heart, I tend an altar fire that burns for you And our lost love ... if from the world apart I bow before the shrine in reverence true! You will not mind if I should call your name Unconsciously -- for habits are so strong ... If in my loneliness, I let the flame Blaze high, when dreary nights are long! Nor mind my daily plans to earn your praise; My silent ritual with evening star ... It somehow helps to fill the empty days ... And if I still should worship from afar A sensitive soul that helped my own to grow, You will not mind, for Dear, you will not know. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...COMPANIONSHIP by MALTBIE DAVENPORT BABCOCK FOR I WILL CONSIDER YOUR DOG MOLLY by DAVID LEHMAN RUSSIAN CATHEDRAL by CLAUDE MCKAY LITTLE WHITE CHURCH by MARILYN NELSON A STEEPLE ON THE HOUSE by ROBERT FROST MATE (1) by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON ANSWER TO PRAYER by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON THE TEN COMMANDMENTS by GEORGE SANTAYANA |
