PAGAN MOON, by HENRY T. PRAED First Line: O pagan maiden, bare your breast Last Line: Above them all, queen of the sky. Subject(s): Moon | ||||||||
O Pagan Maiden, bare your breast, Full on me lay your tresses long And let me in the tropic air Drift to Nirvana in your song. O soon you shall the earth flood full With drunken and empassioned light, And I shall doze but wake at times To revel in the mystic sight. The dove-like murmuring, love-struck waves, Vast sandy beaches there with you, A poppy dream asleep, awake, Sweet Pagan Maid, on every view. O Pagan, am I in the hold Of sensuous seasons; worship I The stars, the beaches, poppies, you, Above them all, Queen of the Sky. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...POEM TO TAKE BACK THE NIGHT by JUNE JORDAN THE MOON AND THE SPECTATOR by LEONIE ADAMS FULL MOON by KARLE WILSON BAKER NO MORE OF THE MOON by MORRIS GILBERT BISHOP THE DEPARTURE by DENISE LEVERTOV THE MOON IN GREECE by TIMOTHY LIU |
