AUTUMN WISDOM, by CALE YOUNG RICE Poet's Biography First Line: Wisdom is on me Last Line: Of sinking stars. ... Subject(s): Autumn; Love; Moon; Seasons; Wisdom; Fall | ||||||||
Wisdom is on me, Breathed from a golden moon that Autumn ripens The chill air is empty of all passion. The streets are lanes where love has been; Dead leaves cover them. I do not think of Helen of Troy, Of Juliet's balcony -- and joy, But of Saint John on Patmos... Of Antoninus tenderly mystic Toward a mad Universe... Of sinking stars. ... | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...OUR AUTUMN by ELIZABETH AKERS ALLEN AN AUTUMN JOY by GEORGE ARNOLD A LEAF FALLS by MARION LOUISE BLISS THE FARMER'S BOY: AUTUMN by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD A LETTER IN OCTOBER by TED KOOSER AUTUMN EVENING by DAVID LEHMAN EVERYTHING THAT ACTS IS ACTUAL by DENISE LEVERTOV A CHARM TO BRING CHILDREN (EGYPT, A.D. 100) by CALE YOUNG RICE |
