YOUTH, by EDWIN GARNET RILEY First Line: I'll not grow old in spite of years Last Line: Shall love and laugh and still be gay. Subject(s): Youth | ||||||||
I'll not grow old in spite of years, In spite of toil and grief and tears; Something of youth shall yet remain To garner up life's golden grain. I'll not grow old though over all My splendid dreams, the shadows fall; I'll build new castles in the air With which those dreams but ill compare. I'll not grow old though bent in form And gnarled by angry wind and storm; My soul untouched by time's decay, Shall love and laugh and still be gay. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BETWEEN THE WARS by ROBERT HASS THE GOLDEN SHOVEL by TERRANCE HAYES ALONG WITH YOUTH by ERNEST HEMINGWAY |
