Tender the flowers are
Over a face asleep;
Silent white moon and star
Their lonely watches keep;
Softly the winds from far
Blow from the ancient deep.

Bright Year what would you bring,
What is your will?
Wild birds that mate and sing,
Where on this hill,
Perishing, perishing,
Beauty lies still?

Winds of the ancient deep,
Night that descends,
Take her now in your keep,
Be you her friends;
Now that she lies asleep,
And my world ends.
