TO YOU WHOM I SAW ONCE, by             Poet's Biography

Subject(s): Dreams; Hearts; Love - Beginnings; Memory; Passion; Nightmares

I REMEMBER
that your eyes were tranquil
with the shining loveliness
of some dark pool
that holds the mirrored radiance of stars.

I remember
that your smile
was like an unexpected glimpse
of lifted wings—as when a cardinal
flies home against the dusk.

I remember
that I might have hid my face
against your heart,
confessing all my fears
and secret dreams.
