TERPSICHORE, by RAY CLARKE ROSE First Line: The dancing muse! I saw her moving through Last Line: Burst forth in songs of reawakened spring. Subject(s): Muses; Nature | ||||||||
The dancing muse! I saw her moving through A forest, where an autumn zephyr played; Her steps were lighter than the leaves that strayed Like waifs of summer, lost where twilight drew A shadow-net about them, and the blue Of heaven twinkled where high branches made A shifting masquerade of sheen and shade That mocked the rhythm of a faint tattoo. And as I watched the airy muse advance, A wreath of laurel on her tresses set, Like emeralds in a golden coronet, Methought the wildwood joined her in the dance, And every leaf and bird and living thing Burst forth in songs of reawakened spring. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...INTERRUPTED MEDITATION by ROBERT HASS TWO VIEWS OF BUSON by ROBERT HASS THE FATALIST: HOME by LYN HEJINIAN WRITING IS AN AID TO MEMORY: 17 by LYN HEJINIAN LET US GATHER IN A FLOURISHING WAY by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA IN MICHAEL ROBINS?ÇÖS CLASS MINUS ONE by HICOK.
