SONGS FOR MARCH: FUTILE, by
First Line: Over march fields, the wild geese fly
Last Line: In a dying song.
Subject(s): March (month)

Over March fields, the wild geese fly.
Below a fantastic poplar stands
Lonely, against the morning sky
With gesturing hands.

Instinctively I formed a thought:
How a foolish, scraggy man was long
Singing of things most subtly wrought
In a dying song.
