The snips of scissors clamber up the air. Already the veil of mystery that on the ruddy flesh of life the phantoms of the eve let down, already the veil of shade is cut across the country and the town. The snips of scissors clamber up the air. Do you hear the gentle bell of God, with poking-stick of sound, delight in courting the eyes, convolvuli, eyes crouched beneath the embers of the night? The snips of scissors clamber up the air. Rise then from the sleep where like dead men we sleep, rise up, sweetheart, afresh; and adorn your dark window with berry and lily and peach of your flesh. The snips of scissors clamber up the air. The snips of scissors clamber up the air. On the peak rendered fragrant with rosemary, lavender, thyme, we shall partake, I the caress, you the flower, of the clear and sombre feast of the hours on the dial where files the world's tomorrow; and we shall watch the smile of the world pass by with its shadow of sorrow.
