JEWELED HOURS, by CAROL RULOFSON First Line: Beneath the stars, beside a copper lake Last Line: Companionship in deepest, utter love. Subject(s): Faith; Nature; Belief; Creed | ||||||||
Beneath the stars, beside a copper lake, We saw the moonlight's glory play with cloud. There first the gage was given for friendship's sake, As gentle breezes played where trees had bowed. Far flung, the seeking chords of memory hold, Until each living fibre brings to light Rare jeweled hours, whose gems are set in gold Of beauty's hue and loveliest delight. Beneath a warmer night than mountains know, Beyond our own articulated sense, We savor of those moods that do not go, And share again in quiet confidence, That quiet strength whose source is from above, Companionship in deepest, utter love. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...UNHOLY SONNET 4 by MARK JARMAN QUIA ABSURDUM by ROBINSON JEFFERS GOING TO THE HORSE FLATS by ROBINSON JEFFERS SONNET TO FORTUNE by LUCY AIKEN JONATHAN EDWARDS IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS by ROBERT LOWELL RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION by MINA LOY BEYOND OUR BREATHING by CAROL RULOFSON |
