LOVE SONG, by SYDNEY KING RUSSELL First Line: My place is with my darling where she lies Last Line: I hear her cry my name aloud, and weep. | ||||||||
My place is with my darling where she lies And gravely muses in the twilight hour, My lady with the dewy-lidded eyes And lips that curve like petals of a flower. Love lies upon her mouth and on her fingers And on her bosom joy itself was born, My heart is with my darling where she lingers And I would sing her praises night and morn. Time laughs at me, for I am lost in space And borne through worlds that neither know nor care, But I can close my eyes and see her face And know again the fragrance of her hair. My place is with my lovely One. In sleep I hear her cry my name aloud, and weep. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...MIDSUMMER by SYDNEY KING RUSSELL ONE SPAKE TO HELEN by SYDNEY KING RUSSELL REMINDER by SYDNEY KING RUSSELL SILENCE by SYDNEY KING RUSSELL WE WHO HAVE WATCHED by SYDNEY KING RUSSELL A POEM FOR MAX NORDAU by EDWIN ARLINGTON ROBINSON THE WINSOME WEE THING by ROBERT BURNS A BOOK OF AIRS: SONG 19.
