Give me a soul, O God!
Delicate, sensitive, truly refined,
That I might feel the heart throb of the universe.
Help me to hear
What the deaf ear of flesh fails to note,
Help me to see
What the blind eye of earth cannot glimpse,
Help me to know
What the dark mind of self cannot grasp --
Then shall my pen
Be dipped
In the glory of Poesy!
