MY PRAIRIE GIRL, by BEULAH WINDLE SCALLIN First Line: My prairie girl, though tanned of face Last Line: My prairie girl. Subject(s): Admiration; Girls; Prairies; Plains | ||||||||
My prairie girl, though tanned of face And shy, has certain lovely grace That comes from watching flowers blow And seeing birds wing to and fro. She's led me a right merry chase; One day our fingers interlace; The next, she's far away in space. Sometimes I think I'll never know My prairie girl. I think I have a little place Within her heart. There was a trace Of sadness; when I turned to go, Her eyes held tears in embryo. From memory nothing can erase My prairie girl. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...LEFT-HANDED POEM by JAMES GALVIN NO COMPLAINTS; FOR ROBERT GRENIER by ANSELM HOLLO POINT OF ROCKS, TEXAS by NAOMI SHIHAB NYE PRAIRIE HOUSES by BARBARA GUEST AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL by KATHARINE LEE BATES THE PRAIRIES by WILLIAM CULLEN BRYANT TO MAKE A PRAIRIE by EMILY DICKINSON THE PRAIRIE-GRASS DIVIDING by WALT WHITMAN SYMPHONY OF THE SOIL by EVA K.
