SPRING HERALDS, by BEULAH WINDLE SCALLIN First Line: Some days ago / I heard a lilting meadow-lark Last Line: Re-echo nature's accolade to spring. Subject(s): Nature; Robins; Spring | ||||||||
Some days ago I heard a lilting meadow-lark ... A robin's wistful wishing for the rain; While far aloft, the honking, north-bound geese Repeated a fast-vanishing refrain. But yesterday I saw the shimmering mist of green Where tree-buds smiled their rapture to be free, A sleepy gopher huddled in the sun, A hurrying brook that laughed its ecstasy. And now today Some towsled-headed lads, intent On spinning marbles to a magic ring, With nimble-footed lassies skipping ropes, Re-echo Nature's accolade to spring. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPRING LEMONADE by TONY HOAGLAND A SPRING SONG by LYMAN WHITNEY ALLEN SPRING'S RETURN by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD SPRING FLOODS by MAURICE BARING SPRING IN WINTER by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES SPRING ON THE PRAIRIE by HERBERT BATES THE FARMER'S BOY: SPRING by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD A BLACK HILLS IDYL by BEULAH WINDLE SCALLIN |
