EASTER SACRAMENTS, by HENRY PARK SCHAUFFLER First Line: There is a soul gethsemane Last Line: To make his rising mine. Subject(s): Easter; Holidays; The Resurrection | ||||||||
There is a Soul Gethsemane Where I must kneel, A prayer which I must pray Till I can feel That, though the anguish redden on my brow, And Calvary's begun, From him I'll take the sacrament of Love "Thy will, not mine, be done." There is a Resurrection Life That I must share, A tomb that I must leave; And though I bear The wounds which I have won upon my cross, Transfigured, they will shine A sacramental pledge of Love with Faith, To make his rising mine. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...EASTER EVE by FRANCIS WILLIAM BOURDILLON EASTER SUNDAY by LUCILLE CLIFTON GOD SEND EASTER by LUCILLE CLIFTON NOT THE CUCKOLD'S DREAM; FOR SAM PEREIRA by NORMAN DUBIE EASTER HYMN by GEORGE SANTAYANA I DEFINE THE DARKNESS CORRECT: THE FESTIVAL OF THE FRERES LUMIERES by ELENI SIKELIANOS |
