HARP OF THE SENSES, by DOROTHY ANN SCOFIELD First Line: I have heard the gentle whisper of the night wind in the pines Last Line: And I think that earth and heaven met and kissed. Subject(s): Nature | ||||||||
I have heard the gentle whisper of the night wind in the pines As it sings a tender mountain lullabye, I have seen the trembling disc leaves of the quaking mountain asp Like the whispers of a lover, young and shy. I have heard the lilting music of the tumbling mountain stream As it hurries pell-mell on its merry way, Like a great majestic symphony, now thundering, now soft, Echoes of a heavenly choir far away. I have seen the snow-capped mountains rising up to meet the sky, Watching through their tinted draperies of mist, In this great outdoor cathedral I have worshipped reverently, And I think that Earth and Heaven met and kissed. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...INTERRUPTED MEDITATION by ROBERT HASS TWO VIEWS OF BUSON by ROBERT HASS THE FATALIST: HOME by LYN HEJINIAN WRITING IS AN AID TO MEMORY: 17 by LYN HEJINIAN LET US GATHER IN A FLOURISHING WAY by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA IN MICHAEL ROBINS?ÇÖS CLASS MINUS ONE by HICOK.
