IN BLOSSOMS WRIT, by JOHN MILTON SCOTT First Line: It seems amid the orange trees you play Last Line: To wing and woo the music heart of you. Subject(s): Music & Musicians | ||||||||
It seems amid the orange trees you play While from your strings divine sonatas roll As if Beethoven from his very soul Had writ these blossoms in the heart of day That they a music score might greatly say Unto your tuneful hearts and strings the whole Of Song the while that bloom-writ score you read And wake the winds to finer ecstasies Than can the subtle perfumes as they're freed To witch and win the hearts of every breeze. As my heart listens, from the tones and strings One sweeter than the rest uplifts and sings To which the singing heart of me outflew To wing and woo the music heart of you. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...LINER NOTES TO AN IMAGINARY PLAYLIST by TERRANCE HAYES VARIATIONS: 13 by CONRAD AIKEN BELIEVE, BELIEVE by BOB KAUFMAN ROUND ABOUT MIDNIGHT by BOB KAUFMAN MUSIC by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES THE POWER OF MUSIC by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES JAMES WHITCOMB RILEY (FROM A WESTERNER'S POINT OF VIEW) by PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR |
