BESIDE FLOWERS, by MARIE SERCOMBE First Line: Delphiniums make me dream of realms afar Last Line: And make life brighter for my belov'd. Subject(s): Flowers | ||||||||
Delphiniums make me dream of realms afar; Their heavenly blue suggests a land of dreamy splendor, Of floating gently on a bed of clouds In painless ecstasy, in freedom from all care; All troubles gone, no monthly bills to meet, No dinners to prepare, no dusting, cleaning up, nor anything, Just resting on a cloud in heaven's blue. But roses bring me back to earth again; Their fragrance lures, and makes me wish To conquer lassitude and aches and pains; To conquer self and live awhile, Accomplish things, get busy, hum, Live, breathe, and love; Be there when children call, Fulfill each day the task imposed, And make life brighter for my belov'd. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THEY SAW THE PROBLEM by MARK JARMAN SHAKE THE SUPERFLUX! by DAVID LEHMAN THE M??TIER OF BLOSSOMING by DENISE LEVERTOV TANKA DIARY (6) by HARRYETTE MULLEN VARIATIONS: 17 by CONRAD AIKEN FORCED BLOOM by STEPHEN ELLIOTT DUNN |
