ON THE HEIGHTS, by INES V. SHAFFER First Line: The pine trees tall Last Line: Your whole life through. Subject(s): Marriage; Weddings; Husbands; Wives | ||||||||
The pine trees tall Their boughs fling high On hilltop heights Against the sky. The evening breeze Blows soft and low. The sun reflects A golden glow. Upon this pinnacle We gather now To celebrate A marriage vow. Young hearts and true In happy union live. Gladys and Gerald twain, Each to the other give. May your eyes look up The heights to view, And high hopes last Your whole life through. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A BLESSING FOR A WEDDING by JANE HIRSHFIELD A SUITE FOR MARRIAGE by DAVID IGNATOW ADVICE TO HER SON ON MARRIAGE by MARY BARBER THE RABBI'S SON-IN-LAW by SABINE BARING-GOULD KISSING AGAIN by DORIANNE LAUX A TIME PAST by DENISE LEVERTOV |
