BEGGAR, by
First Line: I am the beggar who cries for life
Last Line: Where any passer can see!
Subject(s): Begging & Beggars; Poverty

I am the beggar who cries for life,
"Give it, give it to me!"
Here on the corner crying for life
Where any passer can see.

Beggar it, pawn it, creep up and steal it,
Make it of raindrops under the sea,
Just so it's cold and it's sharp and I feel it,
Just so it's live enough -- give it to me.

Make it of bitter stuff, just any honey stuff,
Sew it with needles that cling to a tree,
Just so it's hard and you fling it here rough enough,
Just so it's life enough -- give it to me.

I am the beggar who cries for life,
"Give it, give it to me!"
Here on the corner crying for life
Where any passer can see!
