MUSIC ROOM DUET, by
First Line: Turn from me then, if so you must!
Last Line: That ends not this side of heaven.
Subject(s): Life; Music & Musicians

TURN from me then, if so you must!
I only said that we were fools who thus obeyed
Proprieties which dead men made
To keep the living flesh forever dust.
But I shall know that if your face is hid
(Turned as it is to your still instrument)
It is because you fear assent
And even lack the courage to forbid!

But there's a meaning in that sudden chord
Unless I have misread
It says in fire what a word
Would strike in lead.
Come then, the chord is touched, a promise given
That ends not this side of heaven.
