SPRING SONG, by GRACE SOUTH First Line: Spring in his green vest strides the hill Last Line: Like a dancing girl on a silver wire. Subject(s): Spring | ||||||||
Spring in his green vest strides the hill; The sun is as big as two circus rings; And close by the road, each daffodil Ties her golden bonnet strings. Ties each string, while the field mice play, And the robin calls from the cherry tree, And the wind flirts by in her negligee, And the tree toads sing by the barberry. O, the tree toads sing like a sailor crew, And the sunbeams set the brook on fire, And the sky tip-tilts with its weight of blue Like a dancing girl on a silver wire. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPRING LEMONADE by TONY HOAGLAND A SPRING SONG by LYMAN WHITNEY ALLEN SPRING'S RETURN by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD SPRING FLOODS by MAURICE BARING SPRING IN WINTER by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES SPRING ON THE PRAIRIE by HERBERT BATES THE FARMER'S BOY: SPRING by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD |
