The Moon! Look at her! In that gorgeous gold gown Stepping out to tantalize the crazy, trusting town! See her wiles ... causing that gay old dog to purr, While that swing-angel thinks it's all meant for her! I am wise to her ways ... so I keep to my room I've seen her before -- in the dawn's grey gloom Sending home sorry husbands, (would-be romantic lives!) Limping in with rheumatism -- kissing their wives! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...POEM TO TAKE BACK THE NIGHT by JUNE JORDAN THE MOON AND THE SPECTATOR by LEONIE ADAMS FULL MOON by KARLE WILSON BAKER NO MORE OF THE MOON by MORRIS GILBERT BISHOP THE DEPARTURE by DENISE LEVERTOV THE MOON IN GREECE by TIMOTHY LIU THEY HAVEN'T HEARD THE WEST IS OVER by JAMES GALVIN |
