CATASTROPHIC, by CLARENCE LAFAYETTE STOCKS First Line: It thundered in my dormant heart today Last Line: Will cool a flair of love, or quench a fire. Subject(s): Thunder | ||||||||
It thundered in my dormant heart today, And lightning played across each hemisphere; Each ventricle was thrilled with hope that spring Had come, that love and verdant growth were near. But ah, alas, a harsh downrush of wind Brought snarling clouds and damp and cold again; All thoughts of warmth and love, departing, were Replaced, each flash of hope, with dagger pain. Impertinent! To think to break the hold Of ruthless winter's icy cold desire; When just a gust of hate, or hail or rain, Will cool a flair of love, or quench a fire. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE BOOK OF THE DEAD MAN (#13): 1.
