BARREN SPRING, by VIVIAN STRATTON First Line: Although the peach and cherry trees will bloom Last Line: Because, oh just because, you are not here. Subject(s): Spring | ||||||||
Although the peach and cherry trees will bloom In loveliness, and trilliums unfold; Although the lowly buttercups will turn The rolling meadowlands to molten gold. And though the mating birds again will build Their nests within the spreading maple trees, I shall not see the beauty of the spring Or loveliness in any one of these. For spring will be a barren thing this year, Because, oh just because, you are not here. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SPRING LEMONADE by TONY HOAGLAND A SPRING SONG by LYMAN WHITNEY ALLEN SPRING'S RETURN by GEORGE LAWRENCE ANDREWS ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD ODE TO SPRING by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD SPRING FLOODS by MAURICE BARING SPRING IN WINTER by CHARLOTTE FISKE BATES SPRING ON THE PRAIRIE by HERBERT BATES THE FARMER'S BOY: SPRING by ROBERT BLOOMFIELD MATINEE IDOL by VIVIAN STRATTON |
