AMOR TRIUMPHANS: 1. ENVOI, by ARTHUR WILLIAM SYMONS Poet Analysis Poet's Biography First Line: All that remains for me Last Line: For ever, for your sake. Subject(s): Love - Nature Of | ||||||||
All that remains for me, In this world, after this, Is, but to take a kiss For what a kiss should be; To stake one's heart to win, Yet have no heart to lose: Now I am free to choose, Now, let the game begin! If my hand shakes and swerves A little as I play, Well, such a yesterday Was trying for one's nerves. But I am wary, see! I know the game at last. I know the past is past, And what remains for me: To play a lighter stake, Nor lay one's heart above, And to have done with love For ever, for your sake. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...RESCUE THE DEAD by DAVID IGNATOW BUTTERFLIES UNDER PERSIMMON by MARK JARMAN CHAMBER MUSIC: 27 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 28 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 30 by JAMES JOYCE HE WHO KNOWS LOVE by ELSA BARKER LOVE'S HUMBLENESS by ELSA BARKER SONG (IN THE LUCKY CHANCE) by APHRA BEHN NERVES by ARTHUR WILLIAM SYMONS |
