First Line: A captor and a captive
Last Line: God help them both to keep human!
Subject(s): Crime & Criminals; Freedom; Prisons & Prisoners; Liberty

A captor and a captive
Linked with chains of steel
Man to man, enter prison gates.
The one, white-lipped, remains;
Furtive, shifty-eyed creatures,
His cage-mates. The other grim-faced,
Returns to freedom and the hunt;
On the scent in the hideout of criminals.
The captor and his duty made necessary
By the captive and his crime.
God help them both to keep human!
