Above the bowl I chanced to lean; The water like a mirror lay -- My mother's face therein was seen! Half-wild I turned away. And long my tears flowed unassuaged ... But now I know, since years are gone, It was my face I saw -- but aged, With lines of sorrow drawn! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SONOMA FIRE by JANE HIRSHFIELD AS THE SPARKS FLY UPWARDS by JOHN HOLLANDER WHAT GREAT GRIEF HAS MADE THE EMPRESS MUTE by JUNE JORDAN CHAMBER MUSIC: 19 by JAMES JOYCE DIRGE AT THE END OF THE WOODS by LEONIE ADAMS |
