The ugly things are those that stay:
A somber frown, the angry way
You said good-bye.

The things of beauty leave so soon:
Your smile, your voice that sang "our" tune,
Your happy sigh.

O memory! Can't you keep the glad
And joyous thoughts? Unloose the sad.
You can't? O why?
