THE BOAST, by CHARLES HANSON TOWNE Poet's Biography First Line: I do not need you now! Thus do I end Last Line: "I do not need you now!" Subject(s): Love - Loss Of | ||||||||
I DO not need you now! Thus do I end Our days together, O beloved friend; Thus do I shake all remnants of the past Out of my life; and thus I say at last, "I do not need you now!" I do not need you now! Our love is done, And in this hour of parting, one by one I watch the years we spent together fade Into the cold oblivion I have made. I do not need you now! I do not need you now! The faith is gone That made our love, from dawn to silver dawn, A thing most wonderful. Bravely I cry (Exulting in the shame of my deep lie!), "I do not need you now!" | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ROSE AND MURRAY by CONRAD AIKEN THOUGH WE NO LONGER POSSESS IT by MARK JARMAN THE GLORY OF THE DAY WAS IN HER FACE by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON LOVE COME AND GONE by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON CHAMBER MUSIC: 28 by JAMES JOYCE CHAMBER MUSIC: 33 by JAMES JOYCE A SCOTCH SONG by JOANNA BAILLIE CITY ROOFS by CHARLES HANSON TOWNE |
