PREPAREDNESS, by
First Line: Red robin with your cheerful lay
Last Line: "and buy a rain-coat just his size!"
Subject(s): Rain; Robins

Red robin with your cheerful lay,
How wet your wings must be today!
Does exercise, while pulling worms,
Prevent you now from catching germs?

Your voice is not the least bit hoarse.
So you're a lucky bird of course!
How do you keep from taking cold?
If that's a question not too bold!

And then the robin cocked his head,
As quietly to me he said,
"I never venture out at morn,
Unless I have my rain-coat on!"

"So when the day is cold and chill.
'Twould foolish be to e'er be ill;
It pays a bird to be some wise,
And buy a rain-coat just his size!"
