PREPAREDNESS, by RUBY MIGNON TRUE First Line: Red robin with your cheerful lay Last Line: "and buy a rain-coat just his size!" Subject(s): Rain; Robins | ||||||||
Red robin with your cheerful lay, How wet your wings must be today! Does exercise, while pulling worms, Prevent you now from catching germs? Your voice is not the least bit hoarse. So you're a lucky bird of course! How do you keep from taking cold? If that's a question not too bold! And then the robin cocked his head, As quietly to me he said, "I never venture out at morn, Unless I have my rain-coat on!" "So when the day is cold and chill. 'Twould foolish be to e'er be ill; It pays a bird to be some wise, And buy a rain-coat just his size!" | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE ROBIN IN JANUARY by HENRY CHARLES BEECHING OWL AGAINST ROBIN by SIDNEY LANIER HUMAN, AVIAN, VEGETABLE, BLOOD by KENNETH REXROTH THE BROWN VEST by BARBARA GUEST A ROBIN by WALTER JOHN DE LA MARE ROBIN REDBREAST by GEORGE WASHINGTON DOANE LOVE IN TWILIGHT by STEPHEN VINCENT BENET |
