GENETICS, by BELLE TURNBULL First Line: Jasper attends the four-o'clocks Last Line: In unregenerate mirth. Subject(s): Genetics | |||
Jasper attends the four-o'clocks, The white, the pink, the red, To tie a prim deliberate label On each dihybrid head. Twenty summers the graph swings over The red, the pink, the white. But once he bred a golden bloom, Recessive, impolite ... Jasper's a blasted four-o'clock And his wife a swart sandstorm, But they have bred a daughter, a daughter, Honey-pale, warm ... Something laughs in the clean space Between sun and earth With the gay rough hoot of a horn blowing In unregenerate mirth. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ODE TO LYSENKO by LINDA PASTAN PROJECTS FOR THE SCIENCE FAIR by LINDA KAY PERFECTION by BRENDAN KENNELLY OBADIAH'S GIFT by MICHAEL LIEBERMAN HERE ENDETH THE FIRST LESSON by BELLE TURNBULL NOW THE SLOW DAWN by BELLE TURNBULL HYMN: FIRST SUNDAY AFTER EPIPHANY: 2 by REGINALD HEBER |
