GREY spring day
And a grey sky,
Like flocks of sheep and lambs
The low clouds lie.

South wind, a shepherd,
Quietly masses
Tender flocks and herds
To the grey grasses.

Like a kind shepherd,
To the grey hill,
Drives his flocks and herds
The way he will.

Sward grey as dew
Sudden discloses
Glimpse of tender gold,
Ashes of roses.

Through the mild country,
Grey as a dove,
Clouds like sheep and lambs
Quietly rove.

Low gleam the pastures
Of the low sky;
Like sheep and lambs at rest
The grey clouds lie.
