It was a case of love at first sight on my part, You were so all-you-should-be in form and line. Mulberry glazing to green delighted my heart. I bought you and bore you to my apartment, "Mine!" The blue-velvet runnered table brought you out, My mulberry shaded lamp approved of you, Blue Chinese rug and draperies showed their doubt, But cushions, floor-lamps furnished gayer hue; You lent your charm to a multitude of flowers. You rejoiced with me when he came, bearing gifts, Phonograph records, books, such thrilling hours. Time is a sieve which sifts and sifts and sifts. When we left that apartment all the world seemed blue. It broke my heart -- and took a chip out of you! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE TURQUOISE BOWL by KATHRYN WHITE RYAN TO AN OLD BLUE BOWL by FRANCES E.
