THE LEAVES, by                 Poet Analysis     Poet's Biography
First Line: The leaves, this morning
Last Line: That even now, and alone, they intoxicate?
Subject(s): Leaves; Singing & Singers; Voices

The leaves, this morning,
The sun's adorning;
The rain is cool.
Yesterday's songs in refrain are borne,
This merry morn,
And if I forget, your voice shall rule.

And if even your memory fail
I'll run full tilt on the tune's trail
And the words will follow soon or late:
What did we sing
With words so wantoning
That even now, and alone, they intoxicate?
