SPRING WILL COME AGAIN, by NEVA MCFARLAND WADHAMS First Line: Long after we are gone, beloved one Last Line: Will live again in some far fragrant spring. Subject(s): Immortality | ||||||||
Long after we are gone, beloved one, There will be meadows warm beneath the sun, Capricious, springtime, lilac-scented rain And apple-blossoms down a country lane; New gardens starred with blue forget-me-nots, Syringa-blooms and stately tulip-plots. There will be willows graceful, green and cool That bend and trail light fingers in a pool, Moon-silvered skies above a trellised bower. Dear, we have known them all in life's brief hour -- Rich beauty and our love commingling Will live again in some far fragrant spring. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...WALLACE STEVENS' LETTERS by ROBERT BLY DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING by DAVID IGNATOW I CLOSE MY EYES by DAVID IGNATOW IN 'DESIGNING A CLOAK TO CLOAK HIS DESIGNS' YOU WRESTED FROM OBLIVION by MARIANNE MOORE THE THINGS THAT DIE by GREGORY ORR THE MAN WHO DIED TWICE by EDWIN ARLINGTON ROBINSON YOUTH'S IMMORTALITY by GEORGE SANTAYANA SACRIFICIAL FIRES by NEVA MCFARLAND WADHAMS |
